Remake our Life! Volume 1 - 6 - Chapter 5
Chapter 5: Rikeourufe learns to put things together!
he second week of July.
The day of the shooting finally arrived.
“It’s hotter than when we were on location ……” Kamikorozawa station, 10am.
Nanako, who got off first, screamed at the intensity of the sun.
“Thank God there’s a fan in the waiting room. I proceeded to check the location to set up the tripod.
“Kyoya-kun, Kyoya-kun.”
Shinoki, who was the last to get off the platform, beckoned me over.
“What’s wrong, Shinoaki?”
“Have you heard from Koyuki?”
“No, he’s already on the Koya Line, so it’s probably the next one, right?”
“I see… I’m looking forward to taking 100 pictures.”
Shinoaki seemed to be looking forward to the filming as if he were touching a toy.
“… Let’s continue.”
Back to putting the tape for the camera position. ^^<I’ve done everything I can for the 7th.
For example, I prepared an actor for the childhood scene instead of cutting the girl’s scene. This was arranged by one of Nanako’s relatives who is related to a children’s theater group. By increasing the amount of information in the childhood scene, I was able to convince him to cut the scene. I borrowed Nanako’s costume from a senior student of the Department of Arts and Crafts through a senior student of the Institute of Art and Design, and worked hard on the drawing of the scene until the very end.
Thanks to these efforts, Tsurayuki seemed to have regained his motivation.
“Oh, by the way, did you tell him about the equipment?”
“Yes, I’ve told him where to mark.” I left it to him to borrow the equipment.
It seemed that Shinoaki would not be able to bear the weight of the camera, so I left it to him to carry it to and from the lab.
“The video lab opens at 10:00 a.m., so we have to have a separate team.” If we all went to the lab to borrow the equipment, we would lose a lot of time. That’s why we divided the time into two groups: one to borrow the equipment and the other to coordinate on site.
“It’s a little hard, isn’t it?”
“I know, …… but when you’re a senior, you can borrow equipment for a few days at a time.”
When you are a freshman, you are not allowed to borrow equipment for more than one day.
So I had to make a schedule to borrow the equipment in the morning and return it in the evening, as I did today.
While I was complaining, the train on which Tsurayuki was to board arrived. The only thing convenient about shooting at a station is that you can get off the train and go right there.
“Here it comes! There he is!”
Tsurayuki came down from the train, carrying a case full of equipment.
“Hey, sorry I’m late. This is a lot lighter than I expected.”
“Is that so? It was really heavy for me.
“Yes, it was for Shinoaki.”
He gave the camera case to Shinoaki and handed me the tripod.
“Thanks, Tsurayuki.”
“No problem. Anyway, we’re finally shooting.”
“Yeah.”
“Let’s make something good. We’ve talked about it so much.”
Tsurayuki patted me on the shoulder.
His expression was refreshing, as if he’d been blown away.
Once again, I was glad that we were able to have a proper talk before the shooting.
I’m sure we wouldn’t have been able to shoot in such a good atmosphere if we were still in a state of confusion.
“Okay, let’s start with scene 1: ….”
I was about to say this when I noticed that there was no response from Shinoaki.
“Huh? Shinoaki, what’s wrong?”
Shinoaki, who had opened the case, stopped as if in stop motion.
“What’s wrong, Shinoaki?”
I turn around and look at Shinoaki’s expression.
He was surprised.
Shinoaki looked puzzled,
“This camera… It’s not a video camera.”
“What?”
He checked the equipment in the case, wondering what he was talking about.
I couldn’t believe what I saw.
“Yes, it’s a still camera. :!” “,Yeah. What do you mean?” Nanako also raised her voice in anxiety.
“I think I borrowed a still camera instead of a video camera. Maybe I borrowed the wrong ……… I told her as calmly as I could what was going on. Everyone’s eyes were drawn to Tsurayuki, who had borrowed the camera. “No, I borrowed the equipment you told me to…” Tsurayuki took out a copy of the equipment rental slip from his pocket. When he saw what was inside, his expression suddenly turned pale.
“Seriously? …… this…” The equipment rental slip fell from his hand.
On it, in the upper left corner of the page, there was a “0” next to “Video Camera”. However…
“-:. It’s not a video camera, it’s a digital camera in the upper left corner.” It was a simple mistake.
Both the video camera and the still camera are packaged in similar silver hard cases that are difficult to distinguish at a glance, and to be honest, a layman would not be able to identify them.
For example, Shinoaki, who was handling the camera in the class, would have been able to recognize it, but unfortunately, the person who carried it this time was Tsurayuki, who was no more than a camera amateur.
That was a pitfall.
“What? What’s going on here?”
Nanako says confusedly.
“We don’t have the equipment to shoot video. That means we can’t film.”
“Can’t you get a replacement? I’ll tell you what’s going on and get back to you.”
“The department has a break between the morning and afternoon loan periods. If you come back now, it’ll be afternoon. If I go back there and borrow it again, it will be …… late in the evening.”
It takes one and a half hours from Kishi Station, the nearest station to the university, to Kamikorozawa.
Considering the time loss of round-trip train and rest, and the distance from the station to the university, I need to allow at least five hours.
Even if we move right now, the earliest we could start shooting would be around 4:00 p.m.
“If you can’t get the noon cut. “If we don’t get the noon cut. If we don’t get the daytime shots, we won’t be able to make the shots we need.”
Shinoaki’s voice was listless.
“It’s a little… It’s tough.”
Hearing my words, Tsurayuki broke his knees in disappointment.
“Guys… I’m sorry. It’s my fault. I can’t believe I made such a stupid mistake. ….. It’s impossible.”
You can see how pale Kanzou’s face is.
“Can’t you adjust your schedule ….?” Shinoaki asks in a small voice.
“…… Today is the only day we’re allowed to film at the station. If we miss this day, we won’t be able to shoot …… any stories set in the station.”
After asking Kawasegawa how to do it, I finally got permission to shoot, but only for one day. Since there are a lot of people who use public transportation, the permission is very strict.
In addition, I have to start editing next week. The time available for filming was limited to the end of today at the most.
“I’ll rewrite the script. I’ll rewrite the script as soon as I get home,” said Tsurayuki with a sorrowful voice.
“Shinoaki, I’m really sorry about the storyboard you prepared for me.”
“U-tsun, it’s okay. I’m sure you’ll be happy with the results.” “I’m sorry, I really am.” “…… No, no, no, I’m fine.
Honestly, this happens. You can’t help it, you become responsible for it, you apologize to your client, and you start over. But no matter who you apologize to, you can never get back this moment in your student days. I was at a loss for words, not knowing what to say to them.
Click, click, click.
Suddenly, your phone rings.
“Oh, sorry, it’s me. ……”
Nanako takes out her cell phone and answers.
“Yes, this is Kogure. Yes, it’s Etsu. Yes, it’s Kogure. Oh, yes, please take care of it. Take care.
He hung up his phone and turned to face me.
His expression was clearly gloomy.
“The girl who plays the child, she’s got a fever and can’t come. …”
“… I see.”
Maybe these things happen in succession.
In fact, it’s a good thing it was after it was decided that filming couldn’t be done.
(It’s over. It’s over. Okay.)
If this is 10 years from now. If this was 10 years from now, you would have been able to use the video recording function of your cell phone, and even digital cameras would have a video recording function as standard.
But now, at best, you can get a video function as an extra feature on a cell phone, and a digital camera can take still pictures as a matter of course.
digital cameras are dedicated to still photography as a matter of course. The phrase ‘all is lost’ comes to mind. Tsurayuki, Nanako, and Shinoaki.
All three of them have a somber look on their faces. “It’s no use. I can’t help it…”
“It can’t be helped, can it …..?”
It’s no use. We don’t have the equipment, and we don’t have the actors. We don’t have the time, and we can’t make any changes now. If you tell them why and apologize, they’ll forgive you. If you don’t have a camera, don’t film. If you don’t have actors, don’t play them. If you don’t have an artist, don’t draw. If there are no writers, don’t write. If you don’t have the budget, just make it up as you go along. You don’t have a choice, you can’t help it. There’s nothing you can do.
My heart was pounding high again.
–What could I do?
Didn’t I spend the next ten years of my life saying that and regretting it?
I’ve spent the last ten years of my life saying that and regretting it.
Are you going to keep making excuses and putting off doing anything?
Are you going to send it off 10 years down the road and stay there?
“You don’t have a choice. ……!”
No way. ……
“I’m going to do something about it.”
I clenched my fists and raised my voice as loud as I could.
I was shouting louder than I’d ever let anyone hear me before.
I was shouting.
“… Eh?”
“What?”
“What’s wrong, Kyoya? ……?”
“You can’t, you can’t give up. You can’t do anything if you do.”
“No, you… You can’t do it. You can’t do it, not in this situation.”
Tsurayuki refuted my words in a desperate tone.
“I’m sorry, I made a mistake at such a crucial point. ……. I’m sorry I made a mistake at such a crucial point. But, as I said, there’s nothing we can do about it now that it’s happened, right? So it’s much better to give up and think about the next shooting.
It’s much better to give up and think about the next shooting.”
“Yes, you can.”
“No, you can! How can I do that?”
Tsurayuki shouted back with tears in his eyes.
“We’re a film and video department, we can’t even edit a film without shooting it, right? We don’t have the equipment or anything to do that, and you’re asking me to do something about it, which is insane! We can’t do it anymore!”
“You can!
He shouted, his eyes bleeding even louder than Satsuki’s voice.
“Kyoya. .”
As if overwhelmed, Tsurayuki stepped back.
“You can do it. Trust me. I’ll definitely make use of what Tsurayuki, Nanako, and Shinoaki have done for me.”
In my mind, I was reminded of the erotic game movie I had made up. After Effects, Premier. And Photo Shop.
These things existed even 10 years ago.
I can record the voices later, but for the pictures, I’ll start a puzzle in …… my head.
What’s the minimum number of pictures needed to make up the story we have?
From Shinoaki’s storyboard, moan the pictures needed to explain.
…… might work.
I look at the faces of the others and declare strongly.
“With this equipment… Let’s shoot.”
“””Yeah, yeah, yeah.”””
They all shouted in surprise.
I opened the case of the still camera that I had borrowed by mistake, not caring about the others.
I checked the model number and took out my cell phone.
After a few calls,
“Hello, this is Kiryu.
A very tense voice came from the phone.
“…. Mr. Kiryu, have you been drinking?”
“Oh, it’s Hassey! Can you come over now if you want? I got some beer from my part-time job, so have a drink at my apartment.”
“It’s an emergency, Kiryu-san.
“Huh?”
“You said that the other day, right? I’d like to ask you to do that now.” Inhale.
“Can you teach me how to take a still camera?”
There was a few seconds of silence on the other end of the phone. Then, “I’m sorry, I’ll be out in a minute,” followed by a very calm voice, the sound of footsteps and shoes on the floor,
“-. Now? On this phone?”
The voice sounded serious, as if it were lying.
“Yes, sir. Let me explain the situation.” I explained the situation on the spot in a simple way.
In the past, I had sent instructions to the cameraman by e-mail to shoot the material. It was outside, the weather was fine, and the location was on the other side of a two-way platform. The subject was a person, but the shot included scenery. etc.
After explaining the situation, you tell the model number of the camera and the type of lens.
Mr. Kiryu confirmed the details, and we managed to finish the explanation.
“Are the exposures and pins OK?”
“Yes, that’s something the camera guy knows.”
“Then, what should I be careful about? Quantity.”
“Quantity?”
“The number of shots. With still photography, you take a lot of shots. It’s no good just deciding on a cut, taking one shot, and calling it a day. If you want to make a powerful shot, take 1OO shots.”
“One hundred shots… That’s it?”
“Even a pro can only take 5 or 6 of those shots to show people.”
He wrote down his advice in a memo at hand.
“In a sunny station, the difference in brightness between sun and shade is huge, so the exposure is very sensitive. Digital cameras are much more susceptible to luminance differences than negative film, so make sure you have shots with varying dew and T, or shoot everything in RAW.”
He seemed to be a different person from the director lazily watching cartoons in the club room.
“Okay, now that I’ve explained most of it, I’m going to go back to the bar, if that’s okay with you ……?”
“Thank you very much! Drink to your heart’s content. …….!”
When I thanked him, Mr. Kiryu said, “Well, good luck with that.
“Okay, next. Okay, next.
He dialed a different number registered in his memory.
“Oh, it’s Hashiba! That’s a rare phone call.”
“Furukawa, are you okay?
“Oh, there’s another karate class today, what’s wrong with that?”
…… did it. Just in time.
“Sorry. Now, I need you to pay me back for that. Can you do me that favor I was asking you about the other day?”
“Of course! Anything you want.”
I explained the point to Hikawa and told him I’d get back to him later.
“See you later.”
“Oh…”
One more thing. I hang up the phone and check with the others.
“Did anyone bring their own digital camera?” Of the three, Nanako’s hand went up.
“Yes…but the picture quality is terrible, isn’t it?” “No problem, let me borrow it.” I looked at the digital camera that Nanako handed me from the back and noticed a small video function in the dials of the function list.
“Okay… Now I can manage ……”
I have my weapons. It’s not much, but it can fight. I don’t have their shining talents, but… I have the power to take them and put them together. –That’s why I’m in production. “Let’s do it!”
Everyone’s eyes remain wide in disbelief. But I had already made up my mind.
I would give shape to the fragments that everyone had painstakingly created. No, I’ll do it. That’s why I came back from 10 years later.
0
I asked Shinoaki to re-cut the image, and we cut the shutter in order. I was standing next to the camera, checking Eunako’s expression. “Nanako, can you make a more hesitant expression there?” “Yes, I can try …..”
As I found out when I was actually looking through the viewfinder, Eunanako was an amazing <actor>.
Even when I asked her to perform small gestures, she did so one after another. Even in the still images, there was a sense of emotion, as if you could hear her voice coming from them.
“Kyoya! It’s done! Fix the scenario!”
Tsurayuki held up the storyboard with both hands and pointed it at me.
“Okay, then, will you run a little errand for me?”
“An errand?”
“Yes. The address is written here. Can you go here and ask for something from Hikawa?”
“Yes, sir. —-? What the h**l is that?
“Well, that’s for you to find out. Oh, look, the train’s here.
“Wait, you’re not going to tell me? !”
Tsurayuki bought another ticket and got on the train that came to the platform and left. Shinoaki, who was waiting for the train, looked at him curiously and said,
“Kyoya, where do you think Nukunoko-kun went?”
“Nowhere. Come on, Shinoaki, we have to take the next shot.”
“Oh, I see.”
Shinoaki looked through the viewfinder again and captured the expression on Nanako’s face.
The quiet shooting continued unhurriedly.
0
“Kyoya, you know… —-”
Nanako spoke to him in the middle of the shooting.
“What?”
“I mean, …… have you been thinking about it? You’ve been thinking about it for a while?” “Yes, that’s exactly what I was thinking. It’s not like you’ve been thinking about it all along.”
“… That’s right.”
I’m sure you’re not the only one.
…… I wonder if it was such a bad idea.
It’s a great way to make sure you’re getting the most out of your vacation.
0
“…… I’m back.”
A while later, Tsurayuki came back by train. He was accompanied by a girl.
She was probably in elementary school. She had a red school bag with a recorder in it, and was jumping around energetically.
“That was pretty tough for a punishment game. “That was pretty tough for a punishment game. Hahaha.”
Tsurayuki sat down on a chair.
“You’re a complete kidnapper if you brought such a cute girl here. —-”
“You were also questioned by the police.”
“…. How did you manage to come back?”
“I called Hikawa and asked him to explain to your parents. I didn’t feel like living. —-”
“Well, Nukunoko-kun has a record of being a thief…”
“Hey, that was just a case of eating ramen without permission!”
I approached the abusive Tsurayuki,
“Thank you, now we can film the scene from my childhood.”
“What? But this kid’s not an actor or anything, he’s just a regular elementary school kid. Is that okay?”
“No, it’s fine.”
“Are you sure about ……? Are you sure?”
Tsurayuki murmured curiously.
And then… I’ll figure it out.
0
The month of July has come and gone, and the university is filled with students who are preparing for their summer vacation. At this time of the year, the Department of Film and New Media holds a screening for first-year students.
On this day, almost all the students enrolled in 2006 gathered at the screening room of the Art Information Center near the entrance of the university.
“Well, the screening is finally coming, isn’t it?
“I wonder what it’s going to be like. I’m a little worried. ……”
“Yeah, I wonder how it’s going to turn out.”
Everyone said they were more worried.
“I’m sorry, I was just about to submit it. —-”
In fact, the editing was not completed until the day of the deadline.
The original of the completed DVD was already submitted, so we could not show it to everyone.
“Well, now that we’ve come this far, I’ll leave it to Kyoya,” I said.
“Me too. I’m not sure if I would have been able to submit it if it weren’t for Kyoya. —-”
“Yeah, same here.”
…… If you can say that much, it was worth the effort.
“Oh, it’s the teacher.”
When I turned my head at the sound of someone’s words, I saw Mr. Kano entering the classroom. The chime rang through the classroom, and the buzzing quieted down.
“Okay, now pay attention…”
The teacher claps her hands and turns her attention to the front of the classroom.
“Now, we will be holding a completion screening of General Practice 1. This screening will be held at …….” The teacher lowered the screen with the remote control and projected an image on it with the words <<Caution>>.
“As I mentioned earlier, this screening will be held as part of the practical training class of the Department of Visual Arts. But…”
The students all became freaked out.
They were still traumatized from the guidance.
“Once you are in the position of making a film, you must always be aware of the audience. In other words, everyone here is not only a creator, but also a strict spectator.”
I gulped and swallowed my spit.
“If it’s funny, laugh. If it’s boring, keep quiet. If you think it’s wonderful, you can applaud. In other words, you should react honestly. In other words, I want you to react honestly, but don’t put your feelings into it, because your friend made it, or because you worked hard! The audience laughed.
But to tell the truth, I was not laughing at all.
(… What if it gets quiet after the screening?)
I’d rather they booed.
If they move on to the next film in the silence, I might not be able to recover.
… No, it would be better if you just kept your mouth shut and moved on. 0
“Oh, there may be questions for the staff after each film, so be prepared for that.”
You’re not letting me go!
(I just hope they don’t show it after the amazing ……!) (I just hope they don’t show it after the amazing film. !) The assistant girl, who was also the MC and equipment operator, took the microphone.
“The hall became pitch black and the screen lit up.
(Is this how the movie will be shown? ……)
I’m going to have to concentrate on the screen. I hope you can make it through… I could only pray.
The screening started.
In order to make it through, I hoped that the average level would be lower.
As if to mock my shameful wish,
(You’re all doing pretty well, …..!)
) I was expecting to see a lot of stuff that was more like home videos. I was surprised to find that most of the works were worthy of some level of appreciation. It was not only the works that impressed me, but also the three-minute time limit, which seemed to work as the perfect timing to avoid slackness.
I think that the judges were very accurate in this area.
Eventually, a film by Eiko Kawasegawa’s team was shown.
“Wow. …. What the h**l is this?”
This was a work that had a lot to say.
Unlike our team, the theme of the work was a train station in a city.
It was a silent depiction of a man and a woman meeting and parting within a three-minute time frame. There was no rudimentary out of focus or misexposure, the dialogue was easy to understand, and the mooring of cuts was really good.
I’m not a film buff, but I can tell you that the level of quality was high. The titles were well produced and included in the end roll.
At the end of the end roll, applause broke out from everyone, and it continued until the next film started.
(No, if they do that after this, it will be the end of …….)
As my body was weakening, something happened to push me over the edge.
“Next is the work of Team Kitayama.”
Of all things.
After the Kawasegawa team’s work, which was probably the best of the bunch, —–
I’m sure you’ll be able to understand why.
“…. 5
When I looked at them, all three of them had stiff expressions on their faces.
“Please!”
I prayed. Please don’t let it get a bad review.
The screening began.
The first scene was from a bench at the station.
The composition is that of a horizontal shot from the opposite platform.
There is a girl sitting alone. She is wearing a school bag and holding a recorder.
A train runs past her from the left to the right of the screen.
After the train runs away, the girl on the bench becomes Nanako in a sailor suit.
The composition remains fixed, and Nanako changes from a sailor suit to a blazer, and then to an adult in a suit.
◊ That day.
That day .
After the equipment lending error was discovered, I made the biggest change in policy.
“We’re going to do almost all of our cuts with still images.” Everyone said, “What?
“Neither Shinoaki nor I are used to using a still camera. The idea is to chain the cuts together with frame-in, frame-out, and the occasional image of a train passing by.
It’s unlikely to hold up in a long film, but it’s just barely manageable in three minutes. “A train crossing… How do you take a picture? Take a series of shutter shots?”
“That’s where Eizo Nanao’s digital camera comes in.”
“Oh, yeah, it’s got that!”
“Oh, yeah, it has that!” It was just a function that people said.
Even so, if you use the full capacity of the built-in memory, you can take about 15 seconds of video.
“So, I’m going to use one of my precious videos here. And ……” I looked around again at everyone’s faces.
“First, Nanako.”
“Ummm, I wish I could.”
“I’m going to take a series of pictures of your expressions, so when the slingshot sounds, I want you to act as if it’s a movie for a few seconds.”
“Got it.”
“So, Kanuyuki.”
“Oh…”
“This time, all the lines will be recorded.”
“Really?
“Yeah. After the cut, I’ll show you the cut and the number of seconds to insert the lines, and you can adjust the original lines to fit.”
“Okay, but isn’t it better if Kyoya does this?”
“No… This has to be Kan-yuki’s line. So, please go to …….” He looked straight at Kan-yuki.
“All right. I’ll write it down.”
He nodded his head with a satisfied expression.
“And… Nnoaki.”
“Yes, sir.
In using this means, the most burdensome part was the photography.
“I want you to cut a composition that you feel is the only one that can stand up to still photography. I know it’s very difficult, but ……” I remember Shinoaki holding the pen with a sense of urgency.
“Only Shinoaki can do this. Please.”
She looked thoughtful for a moment, then,
“Yes, I’ll try! I’ll live up to your expectations, Kyoya-kun!”
Shinoaki immediately pulled out the storyboard and started to re-cut it.
“Thank you…”
His small back looked as dependable as it had that day.
“Hey, Kyoya.”
Tsurayuki called out, looking a little anxious.
“…… Are you sure this is going to work?” This is it.
This is where we have to show them.
“I’ll make it work. I promise.” He patted me on the shoulder and said, “. I promise. All right, take care of it.”
I took a deep breath,
“Okay, then, let’s start shooting again at ……!”
0
And a few days later.
“. . Were you planning to edit the film at my house from the beginning?”
I visited Mr. Kiryu’s house, where I had the exclusive use of the M.A.C. to do the editing. “I’m sorry, I wish I could have rented the department’s editing room, but the non-linear editing room was booked up by upperclassmen.”
Non-linear editing is a synonym for linear editing, and in simple terms, it is a method of editing using a computer. The Department of Imaging Studies also has an old-fashioned video editing room. Although the room was vacant, it was very difficult to use for my method.
As a result, I asked for help from my seniors in the art department, and Kiryu-san had a Mac and Adobe software, i.e., professional image editing software, so I asked him for help.
“No, you can use it as you like. I got a lot of beer because of it.”
I offered Mr. Kiryu a lot of beer as a thank-you for his advice on the shooting.
“Thank you very much, but I was wondering if you could convert this RAW data for me? If possible, I’d like you to sort the files as well.”
“……, you’re a hard man to please.”
I’m not sure what to do. C and helped me with the conversion.
“I’m not sure how you came up with such a wild idea,” Kiryu said, half in disgust.
“If you shoot almost all the cuts as stills and record the dialogues by dubbing, you’ll end up with a work that you can’t even guess.”
“That may be so. But ….”
“So…<?
“I didn’t have the option of leaving without shooting anything.” We had done the location scouting and preparation, and the adjustments were perfect.
It’s true that we made a big mistake at the end and things didn’t turn out the way we expected, but I thought if there was a chance we could get the shot, we might as well take the chance.
–That’s why I chose to leave it as a painting, even though it came to me on the spot.
“In order to avoid making the work unwatchable, I should stay here until I die. If you do that, it should be somewhat watchable. ……..”
“No, well, I don’t want you to die… I don’t want them to die.
I’m willing to sacrifice anything for those talents. For them, this is the only time they will make their first work as college students. I didn’t want it to go to waste, and I didn’t want the work I was creating for them to go to waste either.
You may say that I was a coordinator, a butt-wiping agent, and so on. But I didn’t want my work to die like the unfinished game that I released to the world.
That’s why I’ll never give up.
“I’m going to do some sound editing, so I’ll borrow your headphones.”
“Yeah, sure.”
The sound is cut off, and I can hear Nanako’s recorded lines.
Nunoko’s script, which was recorded within the specified number of seconds, combined with Nanako’s clear pronunciation, conveyed a straightforward message to the audience.
“I think I can handle it…!”
Feeling the response, he cut each line and placed them one after another.
0
In the end, the girl Satsuki played the role of the daughter, and the mother played by Nanako and the two of them lined up on the bench to mark the end.
(…… For now, I think I got it right. I’m sure you’ll agree.)
The video taken with a digital camera had a rougher quality than I expected, so I decided to cover it up by making the whole film in black and white. Fortunately, the still photos I took were of excellent quality, so I figured I could get away with it if my eyes were drawn to them. ….. This was a stopgap measure.
I hope they don’t find out that it was just a stopgap measure.
—And then the screening was over.
The lights came on, and the hall became bright.
(Oh no, I can’t watch anymore: …..!) I couldn’t help but close my eyes.
I closed my eyes, hoping that they would simply let it go and move on to the next work.
I kept closing my eyes, hoping so.
…….
Crackle, crackle, crackle. . The sound of clapping hands began to enter my ears,
“… What?”
And then it gets louder,
“No… Isn’t it?” It was unbelievable.
All the students in the hall applauded.
“,Really? Really?”
“No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
“I didn’t ask you to shoot the material only on video. Hashiba, that performance. I’. Did you aim for that?”
“Yes, yes, yes, yes, when?”
I lied on the spur of the moment.
It’s true, if I do say so myself, but when I watch it again, it’s not so badly put together. But it’s not a video. Given the purpose of this lecture, I could not have expected a fair evaluation.
“Is there a reason why the whole lecture is in black and white?” No way, I couldn’t tell him the real reason.
“Well, let’s see, this is…”
Thinking about the intentions of the director on the spot, I managed to stammer out the words. As I spoke, my eyes suddenly met with Kawasegawa’s, who was looking at me from a seat in front of me.
I wondered if he was going to stare at me again.
“…. (Hutu)”
Surprisingly, he smiled at me in a way that said, “You’re good.
(Oh …… now there is nothing more ……)
I felt a heavy weight lifted from my shoulders.
0
“Well, now that all the films have been screened, I would like to announce the top three films selected by the faculty.”
After his speech, the teacher announced the top three winning films.
The first place went to the work of the Kawasegawa team, as everyone had expected.
The work of our team, Kitayama, came in third place. It is a great achievement. But I had mixed feelings inside.
If we had had the right equipment at the time, and had shot the film in perfect condition.
We might have gotten a much better evaluation. After the screening, the students left their seats. L*. L*. I was so tired that I could not leave my seat. Shinoaki, Nanako, Nayuki, and everyone else remained seated. “It’s over, guys.”
I called out to them, hoping to hear their thoughts.
But…
But the people sitting next to me all fell silent.
“What’s wrong with you guys? I’m sure they’re all dissatisfied with the …… performance.” I wondered and called out to them.
“Well…”
Is there something wrong with them? I was about to ask him again when I suddenly felt uneasy.
“I’m so sorry!”
“Ugh!” The first one to speak up was Tsurayuki.
“What the h**l was that? You’re right, I was surprised! I didn’t know what I was doing when I was filming it, but when it came out, it was three minutes long and had an ending.
“Oh, Kanuyuki…?”
“But you know what! That script I gave you the first time! That script I gave you at the beginning, yes, it was overtime and it was terrible! But if I had listened to your opinion after that and revised the script, it would have been definitely better, maybe even better than the one you made!” “Yeah, I think so too.”
“Why do you think so when I didn’t even do it? You can’t afford it!”
From the right side of my body, Tsurayuki is shaking me.
What? Why?
“I’m frustrated too —–”
Now it’s Nanako’s turn.
“No, really, that was amazing. I was just doing what you told me to do, but it turned out so well. I was really impressed with your …… work. That’s really true. It really is. It really is.
Nanako walked around to my left,
“But you know what? I can do normal acting as well, and I think that would be better for the ……
I’m going to say this, but I think it would definitely make for a better play! I don’t want to be embarrassed, I want to act better!” “Wait, wait, wait, I get it, I get it!” This time, Nanako shook me from the left side.
“Kyoya-kun.”
And.
“Shino, Aki…”
It wasn’t the Shinoaki I knew. He had a serious and very, very happy look on his face.
“You’re a sly one, Kyoya-kun.”
“Eh, eh… Why?”
“Because! You’re usually such a peaceful and kind brother, but when the time comes, you suddenly have a glint in your eye! I was nervous all the time, both during the filming and when Satsuki was showing.”
Shinoaki’s face loomed even closer.
“Now that I know that Kyoya-kun is an amazing person, I’ll learn more and more about cameras and composition, and I’ll surprise him from the front!”
“Oh, that’s why… What? What?”
I was confused, but inside I was overflowing with joy. That’s right. I was never satisfied with that work.
There was only a fragment of everyone’s hard work in there.
Everyone could have done more. I knew that, and that’s why I’m expressing my frustration now, even as you praise my work.
“What’s the matter with you guys, have you set some goals for the next time?” Whether the question was good or bad, Kano-sensei appeared and said so.
I wondered if he was replying to my question, or if he just wanted to say something to someone. I didn’t know the reason in the end, but it was true.
I think it was almost the same time.
All three of them pointed at me, and I thought,
“Not this one!”
“For Kyoya!”
“Not to Kyoya!”
“””I don’t want to lose to Kyoya-kun!”””
That’s what he said.
“So that’s it, that’s it, that’s it, that’s it, that’s it, that’s it.”
The teacher started giggling,
“After the break, you’ll have another class where you’ll be asked to take another picture, so you’d better get your revenge there.”
With that, he left the classroom.
“Hey, let’s have a review meeting right away! Let’s put aside my equipment mistake for now!”
“That’s the first thing, of course! If it hadn’t been for that, we would have taken the pictures normally!”
“If you want to do it again, you’ll have to calculate the time and everything before you make the storyboard!”
“Oh! Of course I’ll do the same with the script!”
I was stunned by the power of everyone,
“Hey, Kyoya! I’ll show you something that’ll surprise you!”
“Me too!”
“Me too!”
“Alright, let’s go eat two meals! We’ll have a meeting there!
“Okitsuitsui!”
I was pulled out of the room by everyone and stared in disbelief at what was happening in front of me.
“You’re acknowledging me a little, aren’t you? .”
If that was the case.
To the platinum generation that I had admired so much, that I had wanted to be as close to as possible. If I could put just a little pressure on them.
(The remake might have gone well with Chiyotsu.) I was thinking about this as I was dragged along by the people I respected so much.
