The Empress Is A Former Spy - 65 - Episode 65. Epilogue (3)
Before she knew it, the rain had stopped for the night. The sun shone through the curtains, and Laila sat up. As she raised her body, the covers naturally fell down, revealing her white skin.
Lila’s gaze naturally turned downward, and she gulped down her spit as she looked at the red flower blooming around my chest. I had no idea how much sleep I had gotten. When I turned my head to the side in a panic, I couldn’t see Jay, who should have been there.
Her voice was raspy, not because it was morning, but because she had screamed so much last night.
Lila cleared her voice with a few coughs and called for Jay, but there was no sound.
Suddenly, Lila began to feel anxious. What would it mean for Jay to be gone after a satisfying night?
Lila was truly happy, but was Jay not?
Stepping out of bed in a panic, Lila called out to Jay in an anxious voice.
Deciding that she’d better go out and find Jay, Lyra hurried to find her clothes. She could have asked her servant to help her dress, but she didn’t have the time or inclination.
She felt more comfortable with Jay. Lila wore the dress haphazardly. She couldn’t even brush her hair, it was flowing messily, but she didn’t care how anyone looked at her, she was in dire need.
She hurried to visit the clerk.
The hotel lobby was quite crowded with guests and people who had come to see the sights of Telmai. The clerk approached Laila urgently.
“Miss, is there anything you need?
“Who came with me?”
When Lila asked where Jay had gone, the clerk opened his mouth with an “ah” as if he had an idea.
“Do you know where he went?”
Showing her eagerness to catch up with Jay no matter where he went, Lila asked urgently.
“I don’t know where he’s going, sir. I left the hotel in a hurry at dawn.”
“In the morning?”
Lila guessed Jay had left as soon as she fell asleep. Could it be that Lila had pleaded with him and he had no choice but to sleep? Why did he run away as soon as he fell asleep? Lyra could not understand Jay’s feelings.
Could you please prepare a carriage?
“Where did Jay go? Do you know the direction?
“No, miss, are you sure you’re okay?”
Lila ignored the worried clerk’s words. That’s when I heard the breathless screams of people inside the hotel. Lila couldn’t even hear them properly. All she could think about were the thoughts of Mr. Jay.
“Se, oh my God!”
The male clerk threw a look behind Lyra and looked so surprised that she fainted. The clerk’s reaction finally made Lila look back at me. And Lila’s eyes grew wide.
Some of the men were walking toward Lila, lifting some of the white flowers. How many flowers covered the man’s upper body and face.
The man, who was walking slowly, gently lowered the flower and showed his face to Lila. The man with the unidentified melilla flower was Jay. Lila’s lips parted in a sob, as did the shopkeeper’s.
“Big, what the h**l?”
Just then, Jay knelt down on one side in front of Lyra like a prince in a fairy tale and held out the melilla flower.
Lila whispered, calling Jay’s name. Jay stared at Lila.
He didn’t know why she had appeared with the melilla flower in her hand, but as she looked at him, he saw that Jay had many small scars on his body. Some of his clothes were even torn, as if someone had scratched them.
“What’s wrong? What’s wrong?” Why?
Jay gently shook his head as Lyra asked him where he had been hurt. Lila kept her mouth shut and waited for Jay’s reply.
“Lila, will you be my wife?”
Lila was surprised by the unexpected proposal. The people watching in the lobby also opened their mouths in surprise. In fact, at least one melilla flower was a necessity for the man proposing.
Many people liked it because it was a proposal in the language of flowers and because the flower resembled the bride’s cotton thread cloth.
However, the melilla flower grew only in the region called Mensa, where it was quite difficult to obtain because of the lack of food.
By the way, it was never in the history of Aquila that a man proposed with not one but more than a hundred flowers of the melilla.
“I’m already, I’m already …. ….”
In the middle of the conversation, Lila burst into tears. Seeing Lila cry, Jay was glad that he had used Amotio since dawn to get the Melira flower. In fact, he wanted to make his proposal even better.
Honestly, if Shea could see me like this, she’d be laughing in her stomach. Jay also didn’t even intend to make such an embarrassing proposal. But that changed when he fell in love with Lila.
As long as Lila was happy, he thought, why not let her suffer that much shame?
“Lila is really important to me. She means so much to me, and I wish I could have taken better care of her.”
As I thought about it, it occurred to me that I had been so busy trying to get permission to marry that I hadn’t been able to propose to Lila in any way. So, he had been thinking of various ways to propose to Lila before the wedding.
However, I never thought I would say something like this when I was unprepared.
“If my true feelings like that make Lila feel uneasy, I won’t put up with it anymore.”
Jay, who had used respectful language with Lyra in the past, now abandoned such language. After last night, he didn’t want to keep Lila at a distance any longer.
“Lila, from the first moment I saw you, I thought you were beautiful.”
At their first meeting in Telmai, Jay told Lila how he felt, something he had never been able to talk about before. He even said some embarrassing words along with his proposal. Jay was too awkward in revealing his true feelings.
“The truth is, Lila, I’ve wanted you for four years now. I’m older than Lila and I don’t have much, but …… Lila, will you come to me now? I’ll do my best to make you happy.”
Lila didn’t look any further and jumped into Jay’s arms with Melilla’s flowers. Jay dropped the melilla flower on the floor to hug Lila, and then he raised himself up and held her carefully.
The sweet scent of the melilla flowers Jay had dropped spread and vibrated through the lobby. Many people came to congratulate them. As befitted the unique atmosphere of Thermae, this place was generous to the lovemaking of lovers.
“Let’s go, then.”
“Yes. I’ll go wherever you want.”
Lila replied honestly, as if she would follow Jay to h**l if he asked her to go. She had been born in the principality, but Jay was the only person she had ever chosen.
“I’m going to the church. Starting today, right now, Lila has to be my wife.”
What happens when someone who has been holding back for so long explodes: …. …. Jay’s current behavior gives me a good idea. The correct answer is “it creates momentum”. It’s about positive change.
Jay rushed into marriage because of what Lila said to him last night. He decided to become legally married to Lila so that they could be officially married later.
Jay had no right to stop Lila if she suddenly broke up with him like she did last night.
Completely panicked at the thought, Jay went to save Melilla’s flowers early in the morning and came back. He then proposed to her, not caring about the stares of the people.
Jay hurriedly ran to the church with Lila in his arms. There was no one who could stop him now.
The remaining clerk carefully lifted the melilla flowers and carried them to the room. This time the event spread across the continent, beyond Aquila. The men who proposed to Jay were the origin of the rumor.
This led to an explosion in the demand for Melilla flowers, which in turn led to the defeat of the Mensa food shortage.
Even after that, the demand for Melilla flowers remained high and the flower remained rare, but the true meaning of the flower’s language was certainly conveyed.
**The true meaning of the word “flower” was certainly conveyed.
There were four people who were given rooms in the Imperial Palace and the Main Palace. Dana, Leonard’s nanny, Carter Wolek, the captain of the Solix Corps, and Lee Jay, ostensibly the commander of the Knights of Accio and the captain of the Intelligence Corps, were the protagonists.
The last one was the Marquis Chris Greer, a wife-obsessed man who was a rare wizard and a great researcher of magical tools.
Chris had made love to Amy in the room that had been given to him, and was enjoying the aftermath as he wrapped his body around her.
“We should go, shouldn’t we?”
Chris whispered as he held Amy in his arms. The room that had been given to him at the Imperial Palace had been given to him when he held balls and banquets at the Palace, for example, mainly because they ended late at night and he needed to rest before going.
Also, due to the nature of Chris’s work, he and Leonard had to camp together for many days, so he needed more room for Hongu.
But “go rest” didn’t mean go rest with Amy in this way. Chris had been using this room with Amy for a full week.
“I know it’s been a week, but you’ll be home today, right?”
Amy cast her eyes down as Chris gave her a look that said he wanted her home soon. As much as Chris had been waiting for today, Amy’s reaction didn’t sit well with him.
“You’re not coming home, are you?”
Chris turned away and looked at Amy’s face. Amy’s face became more troubled as she met Chris’s wistful gaze.
“I’ve been away from you for a week now. I’m dying to be away from Amy like this. Amy, isn’t it?
It was hard enough for Amy to be away from Chris. Amy and Chris never left each other’s side, since Chris’ control meant that they never went out except to visit Shea.
Anyway, when they were apart, Amy felt so lonely that she couldn’t sleep at night. She thought about Chris all the time, and even when they were together, she felt like she wanted to see him more.
“But I haven’t asked the Empress to leave yet…”
“What is it? That saga…”….”
Chris said wildly, and then fell silent. I felt my breath catch in surprise. Chris gave a quick, sweet smile and pressed Amy’s cheek lightly.
“You think the Empress is going to let you keep her?”
“………………………………………………… It’s because we’re not done getting ready together yet.
Amy had missed Chris’s comment earlier, thinking she must have misheard it because she had too many of Chris’s filters on her. Moreover, Amy had misunderstood that Shea and Chris were very close to each other.
Shea and Chris bickered when they saw each other, but even that was not polite, and Amy liked having her beloved husband and the person she respected most, Shea, close.
It was a sight that would have made any normal woman jealous, but Amy had no such feelings to begin with.
“So, how much?”
Chris said, annoyed but hiding it. Chris had never thrown a tantrum in front of Amy before, and he didn’t intend to, so he put on a mask of calm.
“I often ……”.”
Chris pursed his red lips as if he was trying to be charming. He seemed to be struggling to capture Amy with his good looks.
“Benjamin’s looking for your mother.”
Chris ruffled Amy’s hair nicely. Everything about Amy’s performance was beautiful. Wouldn’t it be more unsettling to let her out, even if it was a little prettier…” Of course, this thought was subjective to Chris.
Even though Amy was covered in filth, he thought, “Sweet Amy. My darling Amy. The prettiest Amy in the world.” Chris praised her.
“Benjamin cries every night for his mother. You know? He can’t stop crying once he’s done? He’s just like me and he loves Amy so much.”
“Really? Does he cry a lot?”
“Because I’m crying too.”
“Amy’s heart became even heavier when Chris said that the rich man was in a sea of tears every night because of Amy.
“I’m going home as soon as I can.”
“Why don’t you come back tomorrow? I’ll give you until tomorrow. Hmm?”
“I’m going to come here all night and sleep.”
Amy’s eyes widened at Chris’s words. Even now, during the day when Shea was locked away in his study, she saw Chris as if they were meeting in secret. However, until the evening, she was worried about the eyes around her.
At home, Chris and Amy were employed in good company, so they were obviously keeping their place, but this was the Imperial Palace, and it was austere. They were in a position where their every move could be seen by many people.
“I don’t think I’ll be able to finish that quickly.”
“Sometimes you have to walk back and forth from home to the palace.”
“There was no word from the Empress to ask you to leave. …. ….”
Chris gritted his teeth again. It seemed to Chris that Leonard had become unnecessarily nasty by vacating the palace.
Maybe he was envious of the amicable relationship between himself and Amy. Chris’s suspicions grew even stronger when he heard that the emperor and his wife were not as wealthy as before.
“Don’t look so grim. Huh?”
Amy placed a finger between Chris’s eyes and rubbed it gently. Chris responded enthusiastically to the small movement of her hand, and hugged Amy tighter. He wanted to get a little closer, even though he was holding her to his chest.
“Okay. Please, unless you want to keep me around and kill me, come home soon.”
Chris wasn’t one to take kindly to Amy’s requests, so he couldn’t just keep asking her to come home. Chris began to formulate a plan with the bleak thought that he might have to stay away from Amy for a longer period of time if he didn’t take action.
They enjoyed their “short but sweet” midday snuggle a little more.
Shea, Amy, and Lila were spending the afternoon embroidering in the parlor of the Empress Palace.
They were hard at work, trying to get the cloak and handkerchief ready for embroidery. There was a reason why they were so passionate about their work.
It was because there was a superstitious belief among women that embroidering a cloak for their fiancé, lover or husband would bring them love.
There was also a popular belief that if a married person or two lovers gave embroidered items to each other, their love would last longer.
He said that it all started when many people went out to defeat Aquila and made handkerchiefs and cloaks for the men.
Because there were so many casualties and the bodies would decompose, it was difficult to tell them apart, so women were given vouchers so they could identify their husbands and lovers in person.
“Oh, they’re like pigeons. A fat pigeon, it looks just right to eat.”
Shea did his best to dismiss his own work.
“Not that much, sir. Just a pretty pigeon?”
Lila said, trying to console herself for her dexterity, but that disappointed Shea even more.
“You mean it looks like a dove anyway? Do you want me to do it again?”
Amy suddenly raised her voice, which drew Sheerawalla’s attention. Amy was now a teacher teaching embroidery to Shiawala. Because of this, Amy could not go home and had to stay at the Empress Palace.
So when Amy heard that Shea was going to undo and redo the embroidery that she had left for a week, she had no choice but to disagree as if it were a competition.
“Why not? I’m going to give this cloak to His Majesty. He said that if I gave it to him, he would definitely wear it, even if it was a dove or an eagle. Wouldn’t it be better to give it to her in a cool way anyway?”
Shea’s face twisted into a pensive grimace. It was a look she had naturally acquired, not too happy with her own ability to turn herself in.
“Ah, but as the Empress said, Your Majesty is aware.”
“Is that so? Still, we’d all be fools to wear something like this.”
Shea cocked his head and narrowed the embroidered eyes he had placed there.
“If you open your eyes like this, you look like a skinny dove.”
Like Shea, Lyra narrowed her eyes. Then, she smiled at the fact.
“Oh, that’s true.”
“Come on, Lyra, even you should say you already look like an eagle for me.”
“Yes? Oh, really? Because the Empress once told me to speak properly, even if my mouth is crooked.”
Shea sighed heavily. Lila was like a piece of litmus paper if you looked closely. No matter what Shea said, she sucked it up. I don’t know if Shea did it too, by words I can’t even remember.
Sometimes I could understand why Jay was so overprotective of Lila. Sometimes she felt like she was with a young child who needed to be careful with her words.
“Huh. Don’t take it all, let’s just take a little here. This pigeon is in a hurry to lose weight,
When Shea said, “I’ll take the embroidery I’ve been working so hard to prepare,” Amy was really confused, but she could only nod. Amy was really troubled, but she could not help but nod her head. Leonardo was going to get himself killed no matter what he did.
Empress Shea’s embroidery skills were eagle-eyed, but if they stopped at the level of a fat pigeon, that would raise eyebrows in the eyes of the other noble ladies.
Even though Amy wanted to get home as soon as possible, she couldn’t make a laughing stock of the esteemed Shea.
“So, how does it feel to be the latest married woman?”
Lila looked ecstatic as if she were dreaming at Shea’s question. Even though she couldn’t live with Jay, she was recognized by the Church and they were husband and wife. Nothing could please her more than to have what she wanted come true.
“You know what Amy said to me that time.”
“I told you what?”
Amy averted her gaze to Shea at the mention of my name, then looked at Lila. Lila giggled shyly .
“That was the basic idea. Mm-hmm.”
At Lila’s comment, Shea and Amy looked at each other to see what she was talking about. Then, as if they were enlightened, they simultaneously exclaimed, “Ah!” at the same time.
Shea stopped embroidering and her eyes lit up as if she was chatting.
“So many that you can’t count them on ten fingers?”
Lila nodded as if to affirm Shea’s words. At this, Shea bared her teeth in a smile.
As Shea had predicted, it seemed that leaving them alone was the main reason. Shea also sent them to the so-called Las Vegas of Aquila, the Telmairo. It was a dream village for lovers where marriages could take place 24 hours a day.
Decisively, to give a hint to Jay, who had been having useless troubles with his proposal lately, she deliberately told Laila to bring Melira flowers and even sent her on an errand to coincide with the time when three weddings were scheduled.
Who would know the deep meaning of Shea’s words? Even if no one knew, the results were good, so Shea felt that the effort was well worth it.
“No, my brother, he’s not dead. He’s still alive.”
“Then we’ll stretch him. So it was all pretty mundane, huh?”
Amy exclaimed happily. She looked as happy as if she’d met a comrade. Shea just thought it was cute that Amy was acting like that. She wondered why Lila and Amy were so cute. In a situation like this, there was no way Chris and Jay could keep quiet.
“Oh, yeah. It was ordinary.”
Seeing Amy’s relief at the fact that she was ordinary, Shea knew it was time. Smiling mischievously, Shea neatly removed the embroidery.
“By the way, when will the Emperor return?”
When Lila asked about Leonard’s return, Shea was a bit torn.
“You don’t know?”
Lila asked in surprise. It was strange that Shea didn’t know the exact date of Leonard’s return.
The time of his return could be different depending on what happened.
Shea muttered something meaningful. Lila and Amy exchanged glances, but Shea didn’t pay much attention to them.
“Have you ever been away from the Imperial Palace for as long as you have?”
“Yes, of course.”
By the way, why didn’t you go with me? You’ve been with me everywhere I’ve been.”
“Just because we’re husband and wife doesn’t mean we’re always together.”
Lyra listened to Shea’s explanation and thought it was surprising. Lila and Amy were even more worried because of the recent strange rumors about the Imperial Palace.
And I was too tired to go along. Since we got married, I’ve been sleeping better and better. I get so tired when I use Amotio. It would have been nothing but baggage if I’d followed. And I had some things to take care of while you were gone.”
Lyra looked at Shea with concern. Come to think of it, her skin looked a little flabby too.
“Why don’t you cut back on the work a bit. I know that you deal directly with the big and small matters in the Imperial Palace. I’ve also heard that you now represent the Emperor in political affairs when he’s not in his seat.”
“Oh. That’s because all I have to do is participate. All I have to do is keep my seat.”
He smiled as if he didn’t want me to worry about Shea, but instead I worried.
“Still, it seems impossible.”
Shea smiled at Lyra’s concern for her. At some point, she thought, the news would come as a surprise. But surprises taste like surprises, don’t they?
“Don’t worry, if not, I plan to escape the palace soon. You can get some rest then.”
Shea smiled, but I was surprised to see that Amy and Lyra were deaf. It didn’t seem normal for the Empress’ Corpse Fang to escape the palace.
Shea saw the change in color in Amy and Lila’s faces, and even laughed in denial.
“Guys, stop worrying about me. By the way, I think Amy needs to start all over again. Can I stay at the Imperial Palace for a week?”
Amy was surprised, but in her reluctance she answered. Chris’s words about not being back until tomorrow were the only words that echoed in Amy’s head.
Shea saw Amy’s reaction again and smiled gently. Only Lila witnessed the smile, but she could only nod her head, not knowing why she smiled so gently.
The three women embroidered again, each lost in her own thoughts.
Only the most vicious prisoners were confined in the dungeons of the Imperial Palace. The underground dungeons were so complex that ordinary people could not navigate them without a map.
Walking through the underground passages, Shea slowly moved forward with the lamp. The underground prison was mostly empty. She could not see that it was comfortable, but it was still cleaned and fed in a timely manner so that the front lines of human rights could be protected.
Shea, the prisoner, and Grover locked the prison and went inside. Most everything was there, pens, desks, beds, sinks, books, clothes.
“It’s been a while.”
Shea stood in front of Grover, smiling. Grover climbed into bed, squatted down and held his head. He had always been older, so prison life seemed inconvenient for him.
“I, I’m here.”
“…… Fae, Felicia?”
Grover looked up, reacting slightly to Shea’s voice. Then he looked at Shea with a scared look on his face, as if there was something around me.
As soon as he was sure that it was really Shea, Grover approached her, grabbed her by the hem of her skirt and held on to her.
“Joo, kill me!”
At Grover’s words, Shea looked down, not blinking. But in an instant the expression vanished from her face and she became the Shea she had been when she was alive, devoid of emotion.
Shea grabbed Grover’s skinny hand and pulled it down her skirt, making him stand up.
She walked with Grover to the prison chair. She sat Grover down in the chair and Shea sat down next to him. They faced each other and Grover grabbed Shea’s sleeve reluctantly, afraid that Shea would go.
“Please, I want to die.”
Shea asked Grover why he wanted to die.
“I don’t want to live anymore. This place is h**l.”
Grover looked around and was stricken with fear. Shea agreed with Grover. The prison was now filled with deafening screams.
There was more spirit in the prison than only a summoner could see.
They were all spirits that Shea had summoned. Shea gently pointed her finger at the spirits and asked them to be quiet.
Then the spirit became quiet like an innocent sheep. They seemed to look at Shea as if he were a benefactor. Shea frowned at them.
“This is h**l. Someone once told me. Someone said this world was better than rolling around in the sand. Isn’t that right Grover?”
“No, no. I hear the voices of the dead every day. When I hear their terrible cries, I see ……..”
“Did you see your own sins?”
Shea concluded that Grover had not tied the knot. As if she were a psychologist, Shea focused on Grover’s emotions.
“My sins? What sins have I committed? I haven’t done anything wrong! I just want to …… get out of this pain as soon as possible.”
Shea had some hope, but in the end, Grover realized that his heart wasn’t ready yet.
Yes, how could a villain repent? It wasn’t something that happened often in the real world.
“For God’s sake, you’ve already been punished enough.”
Shea stared piercingly at Grover as he complained, “I’ve been punished enough. Since Grover became a Summoner, the number of people he has killed has exceeded a thousand.
So when Shea saw the hapless souls swarming around Grover, she summoned them to avenge their grudges.
Of course, Shea paid a fair price for summoning the spirits.
The resentment of the humans was so strong that it affected Shea as well, and she was unable to have children even without using contraception. In the worst cases, she even suffered from hypothermia.
“Then why don’t you just take off your munimen ring? You can get out as much as you want. You understand, don’t you?
Shea used Grover to entrap David. He promised to give Grover the Ring of Munimeng as part of the deal.
But Grover thought it was a ring that would prevent Shea from punishing him as Shea had used it.
However, the ring of Munimeng that he gave to Grover was a Munimeng that not only prevented him from being punished, but also prevented him from summoning spirits himself.
Wearing the ring prevented Shea from punishing Grover, but it also prevented Grover from summoning spirits, so it was a double-edged sword.
This ring was handmade not by Chris but by Leonard, and it was the perfect hindrance for Grover.
“Don’t act in front of me. Grover doesn’t want to die. He thought I’d feel sorry for him if he asked me to kill him.”
Shea laughed and patted Glover’s emaciated hand lightly. The spirits wandered around Grover, conveying to him the pain and despair they had felt at the time of their deaths.
Sometimes they screamed, sometimes they injected Grover with the memories of their deaths.
Many of the souls who took revenge on Grover have already moved on to better places. As a result, Shea’s physical condition is showing signs of improvement. “I feel less tired and occasionally colder than when I first summoned the souls.
The souls that were left were the most bitter people, and they tormented Grover horribly. It was a wonder that the Rover hadn’t reached him.
When Shea hit the target without restraint, Grover’s dirty nature appeared on his face.
“Brutal! Must you behave so cruelly with me, old and powerless? What the h**l do you want from me!”
“You must be sorry. I mean it.”
Shea replied. That’s what I’ve been saying all along. What those souls want is not to come back to life.
They desperately want Grover’s apology. They lost their lives to Grover in an instant. They deserve an apology from Grover.
Nevertheless, Grover did not sincerely say “I’m sorry” until the end. He only offered a token apology, desperately trying to escape his own pain.
“I’m not asking you to die. Death is not the path to repentance.”
Shea looked around. The spirit’s eyes were red, and it was staring at Grover.
“But Grover won’t be able to die. If he dies, they will tear Grover’s soul to shreds.”
Grover cowered in agony, perhaps in fear. But Shea didn’t feel sorry for Grover at all.
“I’m not coming here anymore.”
“I was still giving him a chance. But when I saw Grover, I realized that it’s useless to waste time on people who have no intention of repenting. So from now on, repent alone and die alone.”
“Now, wait a minute… ….”
“May life be harsher.” May life be a punishment. That’s what I want for Grover.”
Shea got up. And Grover was imprisoned, and came out of it. Grover was so surprised that he tried to hold Shea back. But Grover, who had no strength, could not stop Shea.
“Don’t go! Come back here! Please! Don’t leave me here alone!”
Shea ignored the horrible screams and walked on. When she reached the entrance of the prison, the spirits that had followed her surrounded her as if to see her off. Shea turned his head and greeted them.
“I’m sorry. In the meantime, I couldn’t even have a baby because of us…”…. >>
He bowed his head, and his spirit glowed as he told Shea how sorry he was. “It’s okay…” he said, gently defending her, very different from how he had treated Grover.
“It’s okay. It’s just not the right time.” “There’s a time for everything.”
Shea really thought so.
“By the way, why don’t you just leave Grover alone and follow the light?”
Despite Shea’s suggestion, the soul shook its head.
I’ll stick around and torment him until he dies. Feel the pain we’ve been through. I still don’t know what I did wrong. >>
In the end, condemning Grover was the weight of Grover’s own sin. From this point on, it was a problem that Shea had no control over.
Suddenly, a familiar soul appeared in Shea’s vision. They had never exchanged a word or a glance before. But today was the end of her visit here, so she faced the soul.
“Thank you for giving me birth.”
At Shea’s words, the soul emerged from its hiding place among the other souls.
“Did you recognize me?” >>
“How could I not know?”
From the first time she saw him, Shea sensed Haeyoung’s presence. Haeyoung was among the spirits summoned to punish Grover.
Shea hadn’t summoned her, but she had already come to Grover and punished him for tormenting Shea and Jay.
“Your Majesty tells me that you have worked hard for us. For the price of your life: …. ….”
Haeyoung changed the subject, perhaps embarrassed by Shea’s words.
“…… How is Jay? >>
“Thanks to you, he came back here and married a princess. He seems very happy.”
Oh, that’s right. They would have made a good couple. >>
“Honestly, I don’t know if I can call you mother. The first thing people say to me from the time they are born is ‘mother’, but I don’t …….”
"You can stop now. My siblings are happy enough."
For a while, Sia couldn’t believe it when Leonard told her about Haeyoung’s sacrifice. It wasn’t the Hae Young that Shea had known, sacrificing herself for her child at the last moment.
But gratitude was gratitude. So I just wanted to say hello.
I’ve always had something I wanted to say to you and Jay. >>
“What is it?”
“I’m sorry. For giving birth to my child.”
Shea quietly listened to Hae-yong’s words.
Thank you for growing up so well, and for my gestures. ……. I couldn’t say a single warm word when I met you. I thought it would be best to keep my distance from you, but …. I wanted to see you, I was curious about you, and I went to visit you, and that always ended in disaster. I’m sorry for all the trouble you’ve had to go through. >>I’m sorry for all the trouble you had to go through.
Shea closed her eyes quietly at Haeyoung’s words. The painful memories of her childhood would never disappear. Even if Haeyoung apologized, it would not make it go away.
Still, at this moment, Sia felt that she could somehow be free from that time.
It does not heal the old scars of the past. It was only possible in the present, living in the here and now, in this moment.
She wanted to be a little more grown-up than she was now. To do so, she had to say good-bye to Haeyoung.
“Yes. I’ve already been to …. ….”
She opened her bloodshot eyes and tried to say the fact that Sia didn’t hate Haeyoung anymore, but Haeyoung wasn’t there when she woke up already. Perhaps because she had said her last words, she had gone where she needed to go without any regrets.
“…… I don’t hate your mother.”
With those last words, Shea left the dungeon. The word “mother” might have reached Haeyeon when she said it with courage. But that’s okay. Sheer was grateful to Hae Young for not hating her for the rest of her life.
There is nothing more consuming than hating someone.
